Professor Simon Evans
As Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), Professor Simon Evans works with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) on the University of Melbourne’s international strategy and international relationships. He has particular responsibility for relationships in and with China and Indonesia (including the University's participation in the Australia Indonesia Centre) and the establishment of the Melbourne Asia Research Network. A key focus in 2015 is close collaboration with Executive Director International Carmel Murphy to enhance student mobility.
Professor Evans is as a comparative public lawyer, with broad interests in constitutional and administrative law, particularly in common law and Commonwealth countries. He was Deputy Dean of the Melbourne Law School (2007-2010), Director of the Centre for Comparative Constitutional Studies (2005-2007) and Director of Teaching (2004-2006). He was a national finalist in the Australian Awards for University Teaching in 2005 and a Universitas 21 Teaching Fellow in 2006-7.
