Professor Thomas Kvan
GProfessor Tom Kvan is Pro Vice Chancellor Campus and Global Developments in which role he provides leadership in the alignment of academic and research strategies with opportunities for campus developments.
With many years in senior leadership roles in three universities, most recently serving from 2007 – 2015 as Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning in Melbourne, Tom is internationally recognised for his work in design, digital environments and design management. He is the founding Director of LEaRN (the Learning Environments Applied Research Network) and was founding Director of AURIN, the Australian Urban Research Information Network, which is developing a national digital infrastructure to support urban research, both networks hosted at the University of Melbourne.
Tom has practiced in architecture in Africa, Europe, Hong Kong and the USA in practices small to large, was director of software development in an IT start-up in California and a management consultant to architects and engineers. He has been a member of the Board of Directors in digital design and facility management associations worldwide and serves on the boards of several journals and professional organisations.
